Pond clean out

Today we did a clean out on a pond that was built by the home owners friend. All in all not a bad job,but now 4 years later some things are showing up.We were told that the previous people that did the clean out some how killed all the fish after the fish were put back in the pond.A couple things come to mind first and the most common cause is dechlorination is always required on municipal water second and more specific to this pond, we found 8 inches plus of gravel on the bottom of this pond , it would be easy if the cleaning person didn’t know any better to decide that cleaning all the way down to the liner is not needed ( no one can see under the top layer of gravel anyway) this isn’t the case and is a sure way to get into problems. All that sludge and gunk under the gravel is one of the most natural toxins to your fish out there. When you re-fill the pond and don’t remove all that gunk it will well, or soak into the new water and probably poison the fish.

Swimming pool double waterfall.

http://waterscaping.blogspot.com/

This is where you can see some photos of a project we recently completed in the north San Diego area. It was a 35ft + double waterfall into a swimming pool. The project took a couple of weeks work and I’m pretty happy with the way it turnrd out. we will have to wait until all the landscaping takes root a while then I am sure this will be an attention getter at all the parties on this residance.

Amazing pond party

Ok this is how I imagined it happening. Ed and Ernie are chillin at the beach (Pacific possibly), Now these two Egrets are just checkin out the chicks and grubbin a little on the local beach food, Ed tells Ernia about this great party he heard about the next day, about this time Emma,Edna, and Elloise land next to them, Ernie,Trying to sound cool envites the girls to this great party,As the day goes on everybody is enviting all their friends including Edd, Eunis, Egbert,Euell, Ernest And so on.  When they all meet up at the pond, it was great, lots of room, lots of company, plenty of fresh water and last but not least lots of great sushi . Now I,m not sure how many were involved or how long it took but before everyone left , The partygoers went thu over 800  1.1/2 to 2 inch koi. I think Ed and Ernie must have been the most popular birds in San Diego !

Lets all sing together    THE CIRCLE OF LIFE la la la la  lala   la

No pictures this time. I wanted to chime in on a project that we are doing at the moment. This project is in a development called De Luz in northern San Diego County .

This project is a little different than the previous ones shown in that there are no plants or fish involved.

One 28 ft and one 34 ft long waterfalls is being constructed ending in a swimming pool. This pool will incorporate chemicals therefore plants will not be included in the finished falls. One of the challenges given to us by this project is that not only plants and fish are not being used but gravel also will be omitted. With the absence if these cosmetic pieces special care and treatment must be used in fitting the rocks and boulders together. I look forward to posting the finished pictures soon.

Fallbrook stream

Wow, this was a pretty cool project we did in June. A 50 ft stream into a pondless. A large holding area was built under the end of the stream making it appear as though the water goes down the hill into an existing pond. We also used two barge boulders that have been drilled out to serve as bubbler rocks. The surrounding landscaping includes a putting green and two decks with multiple plantings. I think that in a couple of years this might turn out to be one of our most beautiful creations.

Entry Way falls

This homeowner in San Diego wanted a focal point at the entrance to the courtyard of their home. We agreed it would need to be small enough that it wouldn’t push out the surrounding foliage, but still large enough to grab the attention of anyone in the area.

A Pondless waterfall was agreed on. Approximately 3ft high, this pondless waterfall was tucked in the corner. Thia made it visible from the front sidewalk and street.

Planning on the future we designed it in a way that as the surrounding bird of paradise plants matured a frame would be created by them. Looks pretty cool.
